Founded in 1994, Accion is an award-winning nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the tools entrepreneurs need to operate, grow, or start their business. We increase access to business credit, make loans, and provide training to help entrepreneurs realize their dreams and to help businesses thrive. In addition to offering small business loans, we also provide training and other support services, including credit reporting, and business counseling. Accion empowers people to be catalysts for positive change—one small business at a time.
For the Step Up Loan Fund for Southeast Colorado Springs, the lending program of Transforming Safety, only residents of SE Colorado Springs are eligible. We are tentatively defining the boundaries of Southeast Colorado Springs as zip codes, 80909 (below Galley Rd), 80910, 80911, and 80916. If someone lives/operates a business in the loan fund area, they will benefit from a 2% reduction on the interest rate for the loan, if they qualify, by the beginning of 2018.
